Tehillim- Book One

Psalm One

אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ-- אֲשֶׁר לֹא הָלַךְ, בַּעֲצַת רְשָׁעִים

1. ash.rei-ha.ish a.sher lo ha.lakh ba.a.tsat re.sha.im

וּבְדֶרֶךְ חַטָּאִים, לֹא עָמָד, וּבְמוֹשַׁב לֵצִים, לֹא יָשָׁב

u.ve.de.rekh kha.ta.im lo a.mad u.ve.mo.o.shav le.tsim lo ya.shav:

כִּי אִם בְּתוֹרַת יְהוָה, חֶפְצוֹ; וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ יֶהְגֶּה, יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה

2. ki im-be.to.rat a.do.nai khef.tso u.ve.to.ra.to yeh.ge yo.mam va.lai.la:

וְהָיָה-- כְּעֵץ, שָׁתוּל עַל-פַּלְגֵי-מָיִם

3. ve.ha.ya ke.ets sha.tul al-pal.gei ma.yim

אֲשֶׁר פִּרְיוֹ, יִתֵּן בְּעִתּוֹ--וְעָלֵהוּ לֹא-יִבּוֹל; וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יַעֲשֶׂה יַצְלִיחַ

a.sher pir.yo yi.ten be.i.to ve.a.le.hu lo yi.bol ve.khol a.sher-ya.a.se yats.li.akh:

לֹא-כֵן הָרְשָׁעִים: כִּי אִם-כַּמֹּץ, אֲשֶׁר-תִּדְּפֶנּוּ רוּחַ

4. lo-khen har.sha.im ki im-ka.mots a.sher-tid.fe.nu ru.akh:

עַל-כֵּן, לֹא-יָקֻמוּ רְשָׁעִים--בַּמִּשְׁפָּט; וְחַטָּאִים, בַּעֲדַת צַדִּיקִים

5. al-ken lo-ya.ku.mu re.sha.im ba.mish.pat ve.kha.ta.im ba.a.dat tsa.di.kim:

כִּי-יוֹדֵעַ יְהוָה, דֶּרֶךְ צַדִּיקִים; וְדֶרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים תֹּאבֵד

6. ki-yo.de.a ye.ho.va de.rekh tsa.di.kim ve.de.rekh re.sha.im to.ved:

1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,

Nor stand in the path of sinners,

Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,

Which yields its fruit in its season

And its leaf does not wither;

And in whatever he does, he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so,

But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,

But the way of the wicked will perish.
